Whether you opt for the black, blue or white lacquered dial, it has a stainless steel cupboard and tire, a Uni-Directional rotating lunette with mineral glass, a screw crown and a water resistance to 30 bar (300m / 1000FT).

The history of Tissot

CHS Tissot & Fils was founded in 1853 in Le Locle, in the Jura in Switzerland, by the father-son Duo Charles-Félicien Tissot and Charles-émile Tissot born and raised there. Like most Swiss watchmakers who were founded at the time, Tissot started as a comptoir, an assembly of parts involved in individual makers in the region. In that first year, the company supplied between 1100 and 1200 watches to the region around Le Locle.

In 1858 the younger Tissot, Charles-émile, left for Russia and with the blessing of the tsar, he sold pocket watches of the Tissot brand throughout the rich tissot. Between 1860 and 1875, Tissot produced spare parts and watch tools in addition to finished watches, in addition to other small items.

It is also remarkable that Tissot received numerous awards and prizes in various industrial exhibitions during the entire period of the late 1800s. Under the prizes that were won, the diploma of Honour in Zurich in 1888, the Grand Prix and Gold Metaal in Antwerp in 1890, the Grand Prix in Paris in 1900, and the first prize for chronometers and for navy chronometers in the competition de l 'Observatoire de Neuchâtel in 1907.

Charles-émile's son Charles was at the end of the 1880s Located in Russia. His son Paul was born in 1890, and daughter Marie in 1897. In 1918, Tissot reorganized the workshops and changed a factory to a production company. The company made timepieces in its own factory and started its mass production.

Times change, names change

As the ownership of the company changed and transferred from father to son (and behind the scenes, daughter), the name also changed. In 1865 the company became Charles-Emile Tissot & Fils. In 1917 the name changed again, in Chs. Tissot & Fils - SA.

In 1930 and the new partnership with Omega, Tissot went under the flag of SSIH, and in 1976 the name Tissot Marché Suisse Sa was published. Eventually, in 1982, Tissot did business under the formal name Tissot SA.

The brand quickly gained international fame, especially in Russia where their watches were popular at the Tsar's court. Tissot is known for its innovations in watchmaking; it introduced the first antimagnetic watch in 1930 and the first touchscreen watch in 1999. In 1930, Tissot merged with Omega, resulting in the formation of the Pre-Swatch Group SSIH, a move that strengthened their position in the watch market.
